Fire departments generally are a continuous recruitment service career although there are smaller fire departments that will only allow application for a per-determined timer period. Service careers have been hit hard by the economy but, our communities are still growing which means there will be an even bigger demand for firefighters in the near future. There are many fire jobs that require specialized skills that may include subjects such as confined space and wild land fire rescue systems. There are a lot of different fire job opportunities for candidates to get hired on for a wild land firefighter crew which will be on stand by throughout the fire season which is about four months out of the year. These wild land hand crews are available and stand by twenty-four seven throughout the fire season. Getting hired onto a fire department requires mental and physical strength that may be tested even on your first day as a rookie firefighter. A rookies first day working as a paid fire fighter may be a little intimidating because the work load is usually more than one can expect. Fire jobs are one of the best service careers available because of the unique work schedule and everyday duties of a working firefighter. There are many working captains and battalion chiefs that are able to and want to help recruits trying to land fire jobs with any information that they think will benefit recruits. Life and job experience is very important in the fire service, so asking questions about getting hired in the fire service or any other fire related questions are welcomed.
